In 2008 I met a boat and knew that if the day came when I was in a position to sail the open ocean, this is the boat I wanted. In 2020, it was a decrepit hulk that barely survived Hurricane Irma. We bought it for pennies, knowing that restoring it to grandeur would require patience, skill, and excuse the pun, but a boatload of moola. We figured 6 months. We didn't portend a pandemic, and all of the supply chain and other obstacles that we confronted.
Three years later, the Jewel of the Sea was born.
